In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and provincial cabinet ministers Christine Elliott (health) and Rod Phillips (finance) provide an update on their government’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. They are joined by Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health. Premier Ford announces that the city of Toronto and the region of Peel will be subject to lockdown restrictions as of November 23, 2020, for a minimum of 28 days, in an effort to slow the rapid spread of COVID-19 in those areas. Waterloo and Durham regions will enter the red level of public-health controls.
In Toronto, Mayor John Tory, Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto’s medical officer of health, and Matthew Pegg, the general manager of Toronto’s Office of Emergency Management, provide an update on the city’s response to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease). The update comes after the Ontario government announced that Toronto will be subject to lockdown restrictions, along with the region of Peel, effective November 23, 2020.
