Remembering the Vanished Voices: Multi-Faith Service for Innocent Lives Lost in Sri Lanka’s War -LIVE streaming

Twelve years ago this time, Tamils across the world felt helpless and unable to answer the cries for help as Sri Lanka’s war came to a brutal end in May 2009. The United Nations estimates up to 70,000 civilians were killed during the last phase of the war. Many more lives were lost during the course of the conflict.

This year, the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) will host the May Mullivaikal Memorial event virtually due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and will include a multi-faith service featuring prayers by various religious representatives. The event will conclude with remarks from leaders and Canadian elected representatives.

Speakers for this remembrance event will also include Professor Suba Veerapandian (Tamil Nadu, India), Alan Keenan – International Crisis Group, T. Velmurugan, Founder, Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu and Kanimozhi Mathi, Lawyer and Activist.
