இரத்தினபுரி, கேகாலை, களுத்துறை, காலி மற்றும் மாத்தறை மாவட்டங்களிலுள்ள தனியார் தோட்டங்களில் வாழும் மலையக தோட்டத் தொழிலாளர்கள் மீது திட்டமிடப்பட்ட வகையில் சிங்கள காடையர்கள் தாக்குதல்களை மேற்கொண்டு வருவதாகவும் இவர்களுடன் முன்னாள் இராணுவத்தினரைக் கொண்ட ‘தனியார் இராணுவம்’ இணைந்து செயற்பட்டு வருவதாகவும் கொழும்பு மாவட்ட பா.உ. மனோகணேசன் நேற்று பாராளுமன்றதில் குற்றஞ்சாட்டியுள்ளார்.

மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு முன்னால் இரத்தினபுரியிலுள்ள இங்கிரிய தும்பார தோட்டத்தில் மக்கள் வாழும் வரிசை வீடொன்றில் வாழும் ஒரு பெண் வேலைக்குச் சமூகமளிக்கவில்லையெனக்கூறி அவரை இக்குண்டர்கள் தாக்கித் துன்புறுத்திய சம்பவத்தின் வலையொளிப் பதிவொன்று சமூக வலைத்தளங்களில் காணக்கூடியதாகவுள்ளது. இச்சம்பவத்தின்போது தாக்குதலுக்குள்ளான பெண் தற்போது மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு சிகிச்சை பெற்று வருகிறார். இப்படியான தாக்குதல் சம்பவங்கள் பரவலாக நடைபெற்று வருகின்ற போதும் பொலிசார் நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பதற்குத் தயங்குவது இத் தாக்குதல்களின் பின்னால் அரசியல் தலையீடு இருக்குமா என்ற பலத்த சந்தேகம் எழுந்துள்ளது.
இச்சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக பா.உ. மனோகணேசன் எடுத்த நடவடிக்கையின் பின்னரே தாக்குதலில் ஈடுபட்ட சிலர் பொலிசாரினால் கைதுசெய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் விரைவிலேயே பிணையில் வெளிவந்துவிடுவார்கள் என திரு மனோ கணேசன் அவர்கள் பாராளுமன்றத்தில் தெரிவித்தார்.

The Plantation Companies (RPC) in SriLanka are using private battalions consisting of retired SLArmy officers and local goons. The rise of this type of private military is a blunt violation of law and order and is creating chaos in the plantations.
I have seen these men taking the law into their hands, breaking make shift dwellings, destroying vegetations grown by workers for their food and cutting down trees belonging to poor workers. Such acts are happening in plantations in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Galle andMatara districts.
Two days ago, these men had visited line-rooms of workers in Ingriya Dumbara estate in Ratnapura district within Kiriella Police area and attacked a worker woman for not attending work. The lady worker has been hospitalized.
Sri Lanka Police go soft on these types of incidents for dubious reasons. It was only after my intervention some goons have been arrested. But they will come out on bail. These are symptoms of slavery. It’s the prevailing modern slavery system in the Lka plantations.
Unless and until we go for a System Change in the plantations, these types of incidents are going to keep happening and also grow in severity. Hence, the supply chains in the Lka tea & rubber plantations are getting tainted with the blood of the poor workers.
“இத்தோட்டங்களில் வாழும் ஏழைத் தொழிலாளரின் ஓட்டைக் குடிசைகளைப் பிடுங்கி எறிந்ததுடன் அவர்கள் தமது உணவுத் தேவைக்கென உருவாக்கிய மரக்கறித் தோட்டங்களைத் தாக்கியழித்தும், மரங்களை வெட்டியெறிந்தும் இக்காடையர்கள் அட்டகாச்ம் புரிந்ததை நான் நேரே பார்த்தேன்
“இது மலையகத் தோட்டங்களில் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டுவரும் ஒரு நவீன அடிமைத்தனத்தின் அறிகுறி. தோட்டங்களில் பாரிய செயற்பாட்டு மாற்றங்கள் முன்னெடுக்கப்படாவிடில் இது போன்ற சமபவங்கள் தொடரும் என்பது மட்டுமல்ல மேலும் தீவிரமடையக்கூடிய சாத்தியங்களுமுண்டு. இங்குள்ள தேயிலை மற்றும் ரப்பர் தோட்டங்களிலிருந்து ஏற்றுமதியாகும் பொருட்களில் இத் தோட்டப்பணியாளரின் இரத்தக்கறை படிந்திருக்கிறது என்பதை உலகம் உணர வேண்டும்” என மே 09, 2024 அன்று பா.உ. மனோகணேசன் பாராளுமன்றத்தில் பேசும்போது தெரிவித்தார்.
