The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of arrests made in a firearms investigation.

On Friday, August 20, 2021, officers were patrolling in the King Street West and Atlantic Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

– officers stopped a vehicle with the strong odour of marihuana coming from it

– a quantity of marihuana and two loaded firearms were found in the vehicle

– the four occupants of the car were arrested

Piraveen Parmananthan, 25, of Oshawa, is charged with:

1) two counts of Possession of a Weapon
2) two counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon
3) two counts of Careless Use of a Firearm
4) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5) two counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Unauthorized
6) two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing it’s Unauthorized
7) two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
8) four counts of Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order
9) three counts Fail to Comply with Probation
10) Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime

Shangeeve Ilangovan, 26, of Ajax, is charged with:

1) two counts of Possession of a Weapon
2) two counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon
3) two counts of Careless Use of a Firearm
4) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5) two counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Unauthorized
6) two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing it’s Unauthorized
7) two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
8) four counts of Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order
9) Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime

Ryan Balkaran, 28, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) two counts of Possession of a Weapon
2) two counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon
3) two counts of Careless Use of a Firearm
4) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5) two counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing it’s Unauthorized
6) two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing it’s Unauthorized
7) two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
8) Transport Cannabis
9) Possession of Firearm Obtained by Crime
