In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announces an extension of the provincewide stay-at-home order and public-health measures for an additional two weeks until at least June 2. He says the province should be able to lift restrictions on outdoor recreation by that date as long as health measures have been followed. The premier announced a four-week provincewide stay-at-home order on April 7. On April 16, he extended it by two weeks until May 20 amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in the province. The premier also announces that starting May 31, youth ages 12 and up will be able to book an appointment to receive their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Ford is joined by Health Minister Christine Elliott as well as Sylvia Jones, Ontario’s solicitor general, and Dr. David Williams, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health.
